As there are so many technical terms relating to insurance we thought that it would be a good idea to list some of them here with their meaning in plain english.
Condition of Car Insurance - A rule that you must obey or risk voiding your insurance. e.g. if you don't declare any mods you are breaking a condition of insurance and could void your policy.
Disclosure - This one is simple, tell the TRUTH. Again if you don't you'll void your car insurance.
Excess - The amount that YOU will have to pay in the event of a claim. e.g. your car is stolen and you are paid out £1000, if the excess is £250 you will only receive £750. Check out our FAQ's for why this is included.
Fully Comprehensive Car Insurance - This is the best level of insurance because it covers your car in an accident even if it was your fault. There's lots of options for this level as well like rental cars and protected NCB(see below)
NCB (No Claims Bonus) - This is how many years YOU have had insurance without having an accident. You don't have any NCB if you've been a named driver on your parents car.
Third Party Fire & Theft Car Insurance - This level of cover is the same as third party but also includes cover in case your car is stolen or set on fire.
Third Party Insurance - This level of cover is only intended to protect other people. None of your property is insured AT ALL so don't go for this level unless there's no alternative. If your car gets nicked you get NOTHING.
